Muriel Palanca
Hello! I am a junior at the University of Delaware. I am a Mass Communication Major working on an Advertising and Journalism Minor. I have interests and experience in Public Relations, Business Management, Marketing and Sales (but I’m game for pretty much anything). I’ve had some wonderful experiences in my internships and jobs, but I am always looking for more.
Currently, I am working with an internet marketing/ product brokerage site called Shop.com to build an internship program and I am a Certified Artist Developer in their Conquer Entertainment division. I am an intern for PacSun promoting the “Golden State of Mind” Campaign. I am also Public Relations Team Lead for Team J.U.R.B.A.N. in the Google Lunar X Prize contest.
I have had internships with eZanga (Online advertising company and search engine), Aflac (Supplemental Insurance), The Walt Disney Company (Disney College Program) and GradeGuru (Note-sharing Website). I have a part time job as an Independent Consultant with Temptations Parties (Home Party Business/ Adult Products) and I have been a Recruiter for College Pro (Franchise). I do promotional work for BzzAgent (Product Promotion) and Attack! (Guerrilla Marketing).
In school, I was the Official Casting Director, now Webmaster and a Film Director in Reel Productions Film Society (Create short films). I’m a positive, driven person who loves learning and doing. You can take my word for it but I would much rather show you.
I’m an explorer, thinker and optimistic realist. I wish I had more time to better myself by learning random things that aren’t generally taught in school like learning how to pick a lock, or play the harmonica or change a tire. I am easily satisfied in the sense that I don’t need much to be happy. I like good food, good people, a decent place to live and something to do. I like to be active and constantly engage myself because if I’m just sitting on the couch doing nothing, I feel like I am wasting my time.

A Happy Traffic Cone

I’m a happy traffic cone
And I am standing all alone
Because all the orange traffic cones
Decided to go home.
The drivers do not like them
Because drivers hate to stop.
Sometimes they run cones over
And then they get caught by cops.
But I’m different because I’m yellow,
The bright kind like the sun,
And I’m better than a stoplight
Because I’m the only one.
I like to smile as cars go by
But I keep getting ignored
Because people think that safety
Is all that I am for.
I could be a giant party hat
But I would need a giant head.
If I was not made of plastic
I could be an ice cream cone instead.
Maybe if I was a circle
I could bounce and roll like balls.
Maybe people would like me more
And I could give my hugs to all.
But alas I am a triangle
…only not, I’m something else.
I’m an awesome happy traffic cone
And I can stand all by myself!
So I’ll keep on shining and stopping cars.
I have my own horn to toot.
I’d like to think that traffic honks
Because they think I’m so damn cute!
